Neo was born in 1981, in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Having lived in Brasilia for several years thereafter, the Praters moved to the US in 1988. Living in Connecticutt where he took Tang Soo Do for years, then Texas where he avidly Skateboarded, then Oklahoma, where Neo had his first contact with Wrestling in 1993. Neo wrestled at Cimarron Middle and Edmond Memorial High Schools. After watching the first couple of UFC´s on VHS, Neo, who was training and competing under Master Bill Sharp, quickly sought after training in Jiu-Jitsu. Throughout numerous competitions Neo became acquainted with MMA fighter Jeff Lindsay, whom mentored and helped to center the talented young Neo.
After a successful stint training, progressing and competing in Judo, Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling throughout the US, his father moved the family back to Brazil in 1998. Upon landing in the capital city of Brasilia, the 17 year old Neo immediately toured the best gyms in town, eventually associating with Sandro “Bala” da Silva Lima, and his older brother Julio “Pudim” Cesar da Silva Lima. Several months later, Neo initiated his training in the Brazilian martial art of Luta Livre with Marcus Goes. Upon graduating high school in the year 2000, he travelled to Thailand where he trained at Lanna in Chiang Mai and Rompo in Bangkok. After a subsequent trip back to Thailandthe following year where he trained and fought for Sityodtong in Pattaya. The following year after returning to Brasilia and furthering his knowledge in the sweet science with defected Cuban national Kick Boxing champion Waldo Santa Cruz, he decided to move to Texas to train with Yves Edwards. Training with Saul Soliz (MMA), Kru Nilson Jr.(Muay), Marcão(Luta Livre) and Sandro(Jiu-Jitsu) currently and always encouraging crosstraining and training exchanges throughout my career and future as well. Neo has up until this point in time had a successfull career in which this multi-talented fighter has at one time fought for EVERY dominant promotion in combat sports, except, the UFC…
Never one to settle or ascribe to pre-established limits or expectations, Neo has made it his priority as an athlete to break into the UFC and show the world the best fighter they have never heard of.
